Marla L Upshaw, RN BSN has over 29 years of experience in the medical field. Marla’s clinician relationship skills have been honed by years of providing change management leadership to providers during various technical and Epic EMR implementations. Marla was instrumental in one of the most successful Community Connect programs in the U.S. She provided on-going EMR and office work-flow optimization to these physician practices, while mentoring a newly developed team designed to promote physician office optimization and effectiveness with EMR use. She regularly designed and developed training programs and led training sessions to educate physicians and medical office staff on upcoming Epic Ambulatory software upgrades and new software implementations.
Marla’s nursing career has included Cleveland Clinic, Premier Health, a busy Oncology/Hematology practice and an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) where she helped to develop and launch a unique Pre-Admission Testing Department. Marla currently resides in Fort Walton Beach, FL, and works in Destin in a busy ASC, remaining eager to be involved in the world of Healthcare IT.
Marla is a Credentialed EpicCare Ambulatory Trainer, and she has been a previous recipient of the Leadership Award from Premier HealthNet for her work with their physician office practices. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University and an Associate’s degree in Nursing from the University of Rio Grande, Holzer College of Nursing in 1990.
