Kris Vilamaa has over eighteen years of behavioral health, health information technology and health policy experience. He has led major state system transformations including planning for Medicaid Transformation, development of new behavioral health treatment standards, service definitions and leading large information technology system implementations.

Kris Vilamaa has over eighteen years of behavioral health, health information technology and health policy experience. He has led major state system transformations including planning for Medicaid Transformation, development of new behavioral health treatment standards, service definitions and leading large information technology system implementations.
He has worked with state and county health departments, managed care organizations, community mental health providers, behavioral health county boards, federally qualified health centers, safety net hospitals and large health systems to enact meaningful initiatives.
Kris currently works as a senior consultant and subject matter expert with HAN, Mostly Medicaid, Germane Solutions and HealthCare Perspective, LLC. He was formerly Director of Behavioral Health for Germane Solutions and the first Chief Information Officer for the Alabama Department of Mental Health.
His notable projects include leading a compliance review with the mental health parity act for the State of Wyoming Health Department, assisting behavioral health providers with EHR optimization strategies, and developing an insurance strategy for a large county health department in Texas. He developed and executed the IT vision and strategy for the Alabama Department of Mental Health, which was named one of the Elite 8 IT projects in the nation.
